Taking a stand against the practice of any and all entities influencing the conscious or unconscious behavior of incumbents or candidates for public office through unlimited and undisclosed political spending, including through direct donations to political campaigns via intermediaries that are not required to disclose their donors, and through independent expenditures intended to boost preferred candidate(s).
2. Showing support for the creation and ratification of an Amendment to the U.S. Constitution to address this practice.
3. Signaling to incumbents and candidates for public office that you stand against unlimited and undisclosed spending in American elections, and that their decision to accept campaign money or assistance from entities that do not disclose their donors, along with their stance on this practice, will play a crucial factor into your decision to support them.
1. Expressing alignment with or support for any particular partisan ideology or group.
2. Expressing a specific view on how to solve this problem legislatively, outside of it being ratified as an Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.
3. Endorsing the religious, political, or ideological views of any other particular person, entity, or group that also supports Slash the Cash as defined by these tenets.
Tell people you know about Slash the Cash and how elected officials must be free to serve the American people and protected from the undue influence that comes from unlimited and undisclosed political spending.
Vote for candidates that don’t accept dark money and denounce unlimited spending by third parties. It’s the only way we’ll get enough people in government to pass an Amendment and solve the problem for good.
Talk about Slash the Cash on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and other platforms. Use hashtag #SlashTheCash to call out the relationship between government corruption and our current broken system.
Download and share it. Print it out. Pass it around to coworkers, friends and family. Email it to your elected representatives. The likeliness of reform increases as more citizens display their support and as more elected officials become aware of the movement.
Help people display their support by creating and selling stickers, T-shirts, and more featuring the Slash the Cash emblem, which is released into the Public Domain. Even a few calls from constituents can make a big difference on how a lawmaker will perceive the importance of this issue. By calling a lawmaker’s office, you have a chance to tell them or their staff of your support for an amendment. It only takes a couple of minutes to look up your lawmakers’ contact information and give them a call.
Members of Congress and State Legislators have the ability to participate directly in the amendment process. City council members and other local officeholders can set an example for others in refusing dark money and can also use their position to influence party platform. There are plenty of resources on the web to help anyone get started.
